23 pieces of breakway —Summer Breakaway 2004

In case you weren't at Summer Breakaway at Louisburg College the week of June 21-26, 23 pieces of breakaway is the movie made by my Movie Group that week. And, in case you don't know what that means, Movie Group is one of the week's activities, where groups of the kids there get together under the leadership of brave and foolhardy adult staff volunteers, and for three days of the week, we get together for a couple of hours each of those days to plan, play and shoot a short video of some sort.

This year, my kids decided to put together an accumulation of activities, writings and general nonsense that would work to capture their essence and spirit of the week, and I would assemble it into a video collage. Once shooting was wrapped on the final day, I was overwhelmed and moved by the images captured in a few short hours, and I sacrificed a night's sleep in order to do it all justice in the final edit.

So, without further ado, here is a downloadable version of this movie. It is the best movie ever from the six years I've been on staff for Breakaway, and it is the very example of what happens when you get the chance to "catch lightning in a bottle."
